Here Comes the Rain Again...

If there's one thing Filipinos have mixed feelings about, it has to be RAIN. Why? Because we are ever so tired of the traffic jams and flooding that the rains bring, yet come summertime, there is nothing that we pray for more fervently...than for RAIN.

But the logical person that I am loves the rain anyway, since the problems it brings are really man-made. Rain, in itself, is refreshing...some kind of cleansing.  I love the smells...of the raindrops hitting the hot pavement...of the earth fresh from a shower... and the sounds...as it hits the roof...the splash when the car goes through a puddle...

However, the one thing I do not like about the rain is getting my feet wet...I always used to worry about what shoes to wear in the rain...thank God for Crocs!

And as we are now at the height of the Rainy Season, here's a LO of Bianca playing in the rain. This picture was taken last year, about a week after Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) hit.  We had just finished packing relief goods for the typhoon victims and as a treat for the kids, we let them play outside in the rain.

Title: Rainy Days
Journaling: Bianca loves rainy days because she gets to go outside with her umbrella. 10-01-09
Materials: Cardstock - Bazzill; Patterned papers, rub-on tape, pom-pom lace, buttons, glitter chipboard heart - Kiki Art; Letter Stickers - Basic Grey; Mist - Tattered Angels; Pen - American Crafts; Misc fiber

The papers are from the Water Rain collection -- perfectly purple, currently Bianca's favorite color. Aside from the tape rub-ons and glitter chipboard, Kiki-Art also now carries some lace and buttons...all so much fun to play with!

Eager Beavers

Here's my LO for Color Combos Galore #155.  This is a new color palette for me --- and it was a great experience trying it out. I was a bit concerned that the colors weren't very bright and happy -- the way I like my colors --- but I think this turned out pretty well.

I also love that this only took me an hour to finish...love quick and easy LOs! My mist sprayer was clogged so I removed the cap and forgot to remove my paper and those lovely splotches (splashes + blotches?) happened -- so I just did it again until I got the look I wanted...such a happy accident!

Dont' you just adore that cute little beaver? That's from Nikki Sivils new line for fall -- Tree Love.  Too cute, really...

Title: Eager Beavers
Journaling: Luis & Sam goof-off after their Kab Scout Induction. Oct. 17, 2009
Materials: Cardstock - Wassau; Patterned Papers, stickers, buttons - Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker; Puffy Alpha - American Crafts; Tiny Alpha - Making Memories; Mist - Tattered Angels, Pearl-Ex

Do try your hand at this week's color palette and check out the other amazing projects created by my co-DT here!

My Friend Ella

This is my niece Ella. She is so sweet and totally loves to eat! We visited her and her family in LA last May where we had a huge BBQ party to celebrate 4 birthdays... for which I made 4 cakes. Since that was a lot of cakes, I decided to bake the cakes a day ahead and left them to cool on the countertop.  We left to watch her big brother's baseball game and only when we got back did we notice that there were distinct bite marks on the side of one of the cakes! Not small pinches of cake but bite marks and her mom thinks it was her...and she's probably right.

She looked really surprised when we gave her the bowl of left-over icing since we were telling her not to touch it the whole time I was decorating the cakes. Boy, did she enjoy cleaning off this bowl...almost as much as we enjoyed taking her pics!

I love this new line from Nikki Sivils...My Friend Birdie. I love the soft colors and the cute little birds. My mind is so full of other things to try in my next LO!

Title: Bottoms Up
Materials: Cardstock - Bazzill, DCWV; Patterned Papers, stickers, die-cuts, buttons - Nikki Sivils; Pen - American Crafts; MM Slice Nursery Rhymes card; Ribbon and lace - misc; Fiskars border punch
Journaling: Ella savors what's left of the icing in the bowl! 052210

Daisy Love

Just finished this LO of Bianca with Daisy Duck during our Character Breakfast  in Hong Kong Disneyland last January. I felt so guilty because I thought I was done with running after every character we could find when Luis and Nadya were younger, that I forgot that all of this is new to Bianca. I guess we really still need to go back to Disneyland even if Buddy & I know Fantasyland and Tomorrowland like the backs of our hands!

Title: Daisy Love
Journaling: Bianca couldn't wait for Daisy Duck to reach our table...so happy!
Materials: Cardstock - Bazzill Basics; Patterned papers, stickers, die-cuts, small alpha stickers - Bella Blvd; Puffy Alpha - American Crafts; Transparency heart - Hambly; Pen - American Crafts, Zig.

CCG #151

Here's my LO for Color Combos Galore #151. I loved the summery colors but was definitely challenged when I realized that I didn't have a "matched set" of papers. I put together old papers that were in the color scheme from my stash and drew my own waves for a unique water design.

Color Combos Galore #150

Here's my LO for this week's challenge at Color Combos Galore. I rarely work with this combination because it's a very American and patriotic color scheme, for which I have few pictures to match. But I remembered that I had this floral paper from Making Memories, which is almost exactly like the tablecloth in the inspiration, in my stash and just wanted to use it already.

Title: Being Silly
Materials: Cardstock - Bazzill; Patterned Papers - Girls Paperie, Making Memories; Sticker - 7 Gypsies; Ticket - Jenny Bowlin; Alpa - October Afternoon; Brads & Floss - Karen Foster; Ball Lace - Fancy Pants; Striped Ribbon - Chatterbox; Misc gingham ribbon; American Crafts pen

Hope you can all join in this week's challenge!

Sisters

Here's a LO I created for my July 3 blog post at Kiki-Art. I love how easy it was to put together because the Kiki-Art paper from the Familia line and the glittered chipboard hearts are already very colorful and express the exact sentiments I wanted. I also cut out my title letters with my Slice machine and added some stickles to match the hearts.

Title: Sisters
Journaling: I am so glad that Nadya & Bianca adore each other because nothing in the world will ever be better than having your sister! April 2010
Materials: Cardstock: Wassau, DCWV; Paper & Chipboard hearts - Kiki-Art; Ranger Stickles; American Crafts pen; misc ricrac

Color Combos Galore #149

Here's my LO for CCG#149.  The colors here are one of my favorite combinations.

This little girl here is my niece Ella. We stayed with her family in LA for a week in May and we all fell in love with her!

Well, all of us, except Bianca, that is, who was jealous of all the attention that Ella got. Just this morning, I asked her if she liked her name and she said "I want my name to be Ella" and when I asked her why, she said "I wish I was still a baby." And it's been over a month since we left them!

Title: Ella Bella
Journaling: Everyone falls in love with Ella because she's always smiling, or eating, or both. May 2010
Materials: Patterned papers - Prima, Basic Grey; Die-cut - October Afternoon; Metal letters - Joann; Ranger Stickles; Misc lace and burlap; American Crafts pen

Hope to see you all joining this week's challenge at Color Combos Galore!
