Making A Splash

Finished this LO today of Bud, taken while playing with the kids at Pearl Farm, Davao. Here, Luis & nadya take on Daddy at a Water Fight. The kids enjoy playing games with Daddy who usually takes on the character of the Tickle Monster. MG inspired me to use stamps and my handwriting for journaling -- it makes everything so much quicker!

Journaling: Splashing around a pool with the kids is right up your alley. That's why despite being the disciplinarian, the kids still describe you as their "FUNNY DADDY".

Materials Used: KI Memories, Chatterbox and Basic grey pps, Junkitz, Hangerz, Basic grey Undressed Elements chipboard, Deluxe Designs Chipboard Monogram, EK Success Sticko Classifieds sticker, Kaleidoscope Words & Title, chalk ink, Fontwerks Squared Away stamps, Fastenator, misc twill & ribbon, eyelets, Zig pen

Friends

Started this LO at the EB last Saturday but only finished it yesterday.

Luis and Nadya are not only siblings, they're also great friends. Of course, they have their share of arguments, but for the most part, they are the best of friends -- with Luis playing his Kuya role to the hilt, accomodating Nadya even when she wants to play Teacher or House. They really don't need other friends to have fun.

I took this photo at Pearl Farm last July 2006, they were unaware of me and Luis was teaching Nadya how to blow bubbles in the water.

Journaling: The best thing about having a brother, I always have a friend.

Materials Used: MME Kaleidoscope pps & frame, Lil Davis Glitter rub-on words, AMM Twill Ribbon, Basic Grey Bookplate, Sassafras Lass Stamp, chalk ink, Staz-On ink, misc brads

Quirky

Finished this LO of Nadya last Thursday. She really is such a character! Imagine wearing these shades for the better part of an afternoon even if it was missing one lens? I wonder what the world looked like to her then?

Journaling c/o Phrase Cafe: An idiosyncrasy is a trait that makes you undeniably you! Your quirks are endearing and I love you even more because of them. No matter how old you are, I will always be fond of your funny quirks. Although your quirks seem odd to some, I know that your personality is evolving and changing daily. Embrace your good qualities and your flaws, and just keep being you. Love, Mommy

Materials Used: KI Memories Devoted & Making Memories Gracen pps, Phrase Cafe Rub-ons, Fontwerks Stamps, Colorbox pigment & chalk inks, Lil Davis Glitter Glaze, misc lace

So Smart

Finished this LO yesterday. I've been wanting to scrap Luis' many certificates (this is only Kinder 1 and Kinder 2 is almost done) but didn't know how to include them without making the LO too corny. I guess the only way to do this is to hide them with hinges and pull-outs.

The hinge opens to his report card.
Materials Used: Cosmo Cricket Wanted pps, chipboard alpha, arrow & tag, BG alpha Rub-ons, Heidi Swapp flower, MM paint, Prima flower, EK Success Phrase Cafe rub-on quote, Fontwerks Squared Away stamps, staz-on ink, Karen Foster Loopy Eyelets, chalk ink, misc brads, yarn, Sizzix triangle tab die, Sakura Aqualip pen
Here are the rest of the certificates hidden in the pull-outs.

Create Journal

Made this journal last Friday, inspired by a journal that Liza B made for herself. I used scraps from BG Urban Couture line -- I had to use pps that I love because it's supposed to be my inspiration journal!
The back has a Gin-X chipboard quote by George Bernard Shaw : "Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.

Santa's Baby

Finished this LO last week but just finished scanning it. Picture of Bianca with Santa, taken by Jeff Lopez.
Materials Used: BG pps & rub-ons, LD glitter glaze, misc rickrack and ribbons; Sizzlits Slim Jim

Mary Grace Rocks!

For the 1st-time ever, an accomplished and much-published scrapper visited Manila and took time-out to hold some classes. Mary Grace Abuzman of 2 Peas in a Bucket, Fontwerks, Hambly, Lil Davis (among others) fame was in town!
I still have to wait for Jeff to give me my pic with MG but she is even more awesome in real life. She is the sweetest person -- I can't believe she said she's SHY!
For those dying to see what was in our kits, here it is! Sorry we can't show you the class notes cos they're MG's intellectual property but we can show you our finished projects at the eb!
Personal Growth Class: kit includes a Fontwerks Date Stamp, Scenic Route Chipboard Alphabet (yes, the whole set), a Hambly Screen Print, Prima flowers, cardstock and other embellishments. We also got to heat emboss with UTEE and tried the oh-so-fine MM Glitter! The LOs were much simpler than I'm accustomed to so I'm still thinking on whether or not I can leave it as is (I'm giving myself one more night to sleep on it).

The Naked Truth Class: kit includes American Crafts Alphabet Rub-ons (yes, the whole set), 7 Gypsies 99% Sticker sheets (Family & Notebook), pps from Basic grey, My Mind's Eye, Fontwerks, Autumn Leaves, Around the Block, Heidi Swapp large flower, Prima felt flower, Autumn Leaves pin, MM Crystal brads, accordion album and catalog cards and other embellishments.
Both classes took much longer than anticipated because everyone was so OC personalizing their projects.
As if the kits, classes and food wasn't enough, there were raffle prizes for everyone and here's what I got:
We definitely got much, much more than we paid for, and as Sahrie said -- this will never happen again. She just wanted to give us locals a taste of scrapbooking classes in the US so we know what to expect next time around.
Thanks to Sahrie and Mary Grace for making all this possible. And MG, please tell your other Pinoy scrapper friends like Joy, Jaymie, Melette and others (non-Pinoys too!)that they're welcome to come over anytime!

On A Roll!

Here are 3 more LOs I finished in the last few days. 2007 is turning out to be a prolific year for me (yup, all 9 days of it!) -- I hope this continues the whole year through!

Title: Soccer Dude
Materials Used: Karen Foster Soccer & Chatterbox pps, Arount the Block brads, MM washer words, acrylic paint, Lil Davis foam stamp, Doodlebug rub-ons, Basic Grey undressed elements, misc brads, ribbon, LD Glitter Glaze
Journaling: Finally! You found a sport that you enjoy. This was your 3rd attempt at soccer but the 1st time you loved it. Was it the "magic" shoes? Luis, Summer '06
Title: Spot The Difference
Materials Used: Wild Asparagus and Basic Grey pps, BG alpha stickers & undressed elements, Gin-X Chipboard, chalk ink, misc rickrack, MM cheeky clip, misc eyelets
Journaling: So much has happened between these 2 photos but I'm glad that the best things about you haven't changed -- you still have the same smile with the missing tooth that almost always gets you what you want; the same eyes sparkling with planned mischief; the same perfectly-shaped eyebrows many girls will kill for; the same semi-dimple that always seems to tease; the same flying ears that Daddy loves to bite; the same sweet little boy that gives me a kiss and a hug and tells me I'm the best mom in the world!
Sketch: Becky Fleck

Title: Follow Your Path
Materials Used: Crate, Basic grey & Blue Cardigan pps, Art Accentz Glitter, MM Ready to Glitter stickers, Technique Tuesday stamps, Sharpie white marker, Staz-on ink, K&Co chipboard, misc ribbon, chalk ink, BG letter stickers, LD chipboard letter
Journaling: To be a star, you must shine your own light, follow your own path, and don't worry about the darkness, for that is when the stars shine the brightest.

Finally!

I can't believe I'm finally able to post in my blog after several days of trying to log-in. That Taiwan earthquake did a really good job of messing up the communication lines!

I wanted to post pictures of my check from Basic Grey and 2 gifts I made for Bud -- a Wallet album and my 7th Anniversary gift album -- but it seems the connection still can't take it so I'll just post the link to my webshots account here:

Happy New Year!
