Merry Christmas!

Good Morning everyone! No, I am not awake this early...thank God for scheduled posts! I hope you all are having a Merry Christmas!
Here is my Christmas LO which appeared on the Pebbles blog the yesterday.

Title: Waiting for Midnight

Materials:
Pebbles Products Used: Tree House Pebbles Chips (744114), Tree House Epoxy Brads (744231), Tree House Bliss (751033), Tree House Trunk (751034), Tree House Fun (751035), Red Spool Ribbon (44029);

Other Products Used: Cardstock (American Crafts, DCWV), Pen (American Crafts), Punches (EK Success, Martha Stewart), Letter Stickers (Autumn Leaves, Making Memories), Misc - doily lace

Journaling: Here in the Philippines, our kids don't need to wait for Christmas morning to open their presents...they only need to  be awake when the clock strikes at midnight on Christmas Eve.
After an evening mass, we all gather in my mom's house dressed in our Christmas finery to wait for midnight when we eat our Noche Buena...a huge feast when the family gathers together to celebrate Jesus' birth.
The waiting time is one of the best times to take pictures of the kids, as they are at their most cooperative selves. They can't risk anything at this point as it is so close to "opening presents time".
And when midnight comes, the riot begins as gift wrappers are torn and the kids start squealing with delight.
At around 2AM, we go home loaded with presents, prepare milk and cookies for Santa, and finally go to sleep to wake-up to a full day of more family get-togethers, more eating and lots & lots of presents!

In a Charming Mood...

Nikki Sivils recently partnered with Creative Charms and Sketches for Scrapbooking 2, and here are 2 LOs I made using them.

First up is this Christmas LO using the new Happy Holly Days line using photos taken inside a grocery store last year. I chanced upon this Coke display in the grocery and had my driver go home to pick up my girls for a photo-op. It was so funny because Nadya kind of thought he didn't look like the real Santa and, I think< bianca was definitely not convinced (she didn't even want to sit beside him), but they went for the ride anyway.

Title: Storybook Christmas
Materials: Cardstock - Wassau; Patterned Papers & Stickers: Nikki Sivils; Brads - Creative Charms; Chipboard: Dusty Attic; Stickles, Folk Art and Making Memories paints; American Crafts pen

This next LO uses the Something for Everyone line (FYI: the dotted one is named after me:)).

Title: She
Materials: Cardstock - DCWV; Patterned Papers - Nikki Sivils; Transparency - Hambly; Flowers: Creative Charms; Die-cut machine: MM Slice; Paint: Folk Art; Key - Tim Holtz; misc lace

I loved how these 2 2-page LOs turned out. Thanks so much to Creative Charms and Sketches for Scrapbooking 2!

The Christmas Rush Is Here

... obviously since it's been over a week since I updated my blog. Oops!

Here's the LO I made for Color Combos Galore Challenge 171. A bit of a challenge for me since I rarely use blue for my girls' LOs but these photos just called for it.

Title: 3 Things
Materials: Cardstock - Core'dinations; Patterned Papers and border stickers - Basic Grey; Die-cuts - Daisy Ds; Pearls - Prima; Maya Road Clock; Pink Paislee embellishment; Making Memories metal embellishment; misc lace; American Crafts pen

If you have the time, do try out this week's challenge:

And in case I am not able to get back on here before Christmas, I hope you all enjoy our holidays!

Journaling: Nadya at rehearsals for their presentation at Kids' Expo. Mar. 6, 2010

Here's my LO for challenge 169 of Color Combos Galore. I loved this week's colors and I'm sorry that I didn't strictly stick to the colors as the paper had green on it -- I did try to cover it a bit with some gold glitter paint.

Speaking of which, have you ever tried Plaid Folk Art Extreme Glitter Acrylic Paint? I saw it in Wal-Mart the last time I was in the US and grabbed a few bottles --- it's the easiest way to add major, major glitter to your craft projects without heat embossing! I wish I got all the colors.

So here's this week's challenge, I hope you do try to join in as this is such a joy to work with.

Here's another LO I made using the Tree House line from Pebbles Inc. If you like bright, happy colors, this is one line you need to get your hands on...I can't think of a time of the year when you can't use this line!

I love these photos of Bianca opening her presents. Granted, it took quite a bit of control on my part to take these shots, as I usually "help" her open the presents.

Sugar Cookie

Here's a LO using Nikki Sivils' Valentine collection called Sugar Cookie. Photos were taken last Mother's Day -- Other than having good food, my only other requirement for where to go on Mother's Day is for it to be in a place where we can take good pics with good natural light :)
I made my own flowers using paper strips, a circle punch and Nikki's burlap buttons. If you want a chance to win the full set of burlap buttons, head on over to Nikki's blog now!!!

Autumn in Central Park

Here's a LO I made for Pebbles Inc, and my 1st-ever authentic Autumn LO. These pictures were taken by a friend while walking around Central Park. Makes me wanna go back there at this time of the year to see it all for myself. I don't think I'll ever tire of going to Central Park...there are so many nooks and crannies, it's so easy to get lost...and we've done exactly that the few times we were there!

CCG 166

Here's this week's challenge and my LO for Color Combos Galore's challenge #166. I love the combination of blue and orange but usually use it for boy pages -- it's a nice change to do a girly page with these colors.

Round N Round

Here's a LO I made for Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker's October Challenge to Mix and Match products from at least 3 different lines.  Here I used products from My Friend Birdie, Willow Bee, Bella Blue and Oscar Too, and Will He B The 1.

Title: Round N Round
Journaling: Nadya & Bianca love going for a carousel ride. 090310
Materials: Cardstock-Bazzill; Patterned papers, journaling sticker, die-cuts - Nikki Sivils; Fabric - Prima; Rubber die-cut - Pink Paislee; Mist - Tattered Angels; Paint - Smooch; Pen - American Crafts, Alpha Stickers - Cosmo Cricket

Notice the pleats? This is another one of my "happy mistakes"! I thought there was too much brown on the LO but I had already adhered the photo and punched the border, so I decided to pleat the excess...love the dimension this added to my LO! Try this easy technique out sometime.

Ties That Bind

I was thrilled when Jennifer asked me to be the Guest Designer at Inspired Blueprints! I enjoy working with sketches...even if the resulting LO ends up differently from the original, because they always make the wheels in my head turn in different directions.

I started working on this LO during my Scrappy Birthday Party -- which is always a lot of fun because we combine great friends, good food and juicy "tsismis" or "gossip" -- but "tied" it together later on.

Title: Ties That Bind
Journaling Quote: Family ties are precious threads no matter where we roam; They draw us close to those we love and pull our hearts toward home.

Can't believe it's November already...time to think of Thanksgiving and Christmas projects...

Thank You

Here's a LO that was up on the Pebbles Inc blog last week featuring the New Arrival Girl line. I love the sweet pink color mixed with some browns...makes you really want to have a baby girl just so you have pictures to scrap :) LOL!

Luckily, I still have lots of Bianca's baby pictures left unscrapped (Luis and Nadya too, come to think of it) so I can scrap baby pages for a long time...

Snobby Walrus Oct Kit

Halloween is just around the corner and the kids are excited! Not sure if I'll be making Halloween treats this year...since Luis will be packed off to a 4-day kids camp for Halloween week-end...kind of a bittersweet moment when my 10-year old goes to camp for the 1st time.

Halloween isn't as much a tradition over here as it is in the US, although I have been trick or treating since I was a little girl, too (and that's a loooong time ago...). My husband, who grew up in the US, was stupefied when he saw how Halloween is done here. Because of the heat, the kids can barely walk a block in their hot costumes, so they usually pile into a car and get off only at the houses that are giving candy away...causing major traffic jams in the  subdivision!

Here are my projects using Snobby Walrus' October Kit. Our DT coordinator, Tracy is on emergency leave, so the kit is not yet up on the site, but will be as soon as they iron things out while she's away.

Cousins

Here's my take on Valerie Salmon's sketch for todays Sketchy Thursday over at the Pebbles Inc blog.

I enjoyed putting my own spin on the sketch to fit my pics. The Twitterpatted line makes it so easy to mix and match the papers...without being too girly. These photos were taken on our recent vacation in the US where my kids met up with their cousins. Despite only seeing each other every few years, the kids don't show any wariness and just pick up where they left off, enjoying each others' company right off the bat!

Pebbles supplies used:
Twitterpated Delight (751001),Twitterpated Crush (751003), Twitterpated Giddy (751005), Twitterpated Charm (751008), Twitterpated Cute (751009), Twitterpated Smitten (751011),

Little Miss Purple

Here's my take on Color Combos Galore Challenge 160. Purple is probably te least used color in my projects. Lucky for me, Bianca is currently on a purple streak and insists on wearing purple from head to toe, and yes, underneath as well. This background paper from Kiki-Art was also a godsend as it made it easy to put everything together.

Title: Little Miss Purple

Materials: Patterned paper - Kiki-art; Cardstock - Wassau, DCWV; Chipboard - Dusty Attic; Stamp - Inque Boutique; Ink - Tsukineko; Paint - Ranger; Glitter - Ranger; Pen - American Crafts; Chipboard Alpha - Basic Grey; Foam Alpha - American Crafts; Pin - Making Memories; Misc - lace, bling, butterfly charm
Journaling: Bianca, at 5 yrs old, loves the color purple and will only wear purple dresses, every day, if she can...and she does. 090310

You all have until this Friday to join this challenge, so come on and join us!

Hang On

Here's a LO using one of Kiki-Art's newest lines Hot Air Balloon.  I hand-cut the clouds and made extras to use as masks for the mist -- love how that turned out. For extra dimension, I added some Stickles to outline the clouds. You have to agree that these Kiki-Art little people are adorable!!!

Materials: Patterned paper and lace - Kiki-Art; Vinyl Alphabet (American Crafts), Stickles, Pens (Zig, American Crafts), Journal Card (Jenni Bowlin), Mist (Tattered Angels), Punch (EK Success), Cardstock (Wassau), Clip (Creative Imaginations), Ink (Tsukineko)

What My Kids Think of Me

For my DT Introduction at Pebbles, I had to create an "About Me" LO. To give it a twist, I used a questionnaire from an old issue of Simple Scrapbooks magazine and asked my kids to answer a few questions.
It was fun to hear what the kids thought of me...now I know I need to be a funnier mom. You see, in our family, Buddy (Daddy) is the funny one -- which is why when he is serious about something, the kids don't realize it until he's really really mad.
And just to put things in perspective, I interviewed them just as Luis had finished his exams and Nadya was in the middle of exam week --- thus the answer about me doing reviewers all the time -- believe me, I'd rather be scrapping!
But it's nice to know that my kids are the biggest fans of my scrapbooking...they better be since they are my subjects...LOL!
I fell in love with Pebbles' Tree House collection as soon as I saw it...I love the bright happy colors!!!  So try interviewing your kids the next time you create a LO and see what unexpected answers you'll get, too!

Show & Tell

Here's my LO for Color Combos Galore Challenge 159. This color combo is new to me, and add to that the challenge of doing a school-themed LO --not to mention the looming deadline -- 2 hours to go...

At first, I wasn't very sure about the outcome of this LO, but it has grown on me and now I'm glad I did it.  Such that I can't imagine how else I could have scrapped these pics of Bianca doing her thing in school.

Title: Show & Tell
Journaling: Bianca reads her favorite "Knock, Knock" book for Show & Tell in Kinder 1. Feb. 12, 2010
Materials: Cardstock - Bazzill, Wassau, DCWV; Patterned Paper - Prima; Transparency - Hambly; Fabric Letters - American Crafts; Metal Slide - Imaginisce; Pen - American Crafts; Clip - Creative Imaginations; Misc - ricrac

So do try your hand at this challenge and you might love the results just as I did!

Havin' a Good Time

Here's a LO of Luis taken last summer. I love these pics because it tells me that even if, as he says, he is almost as tall as me...he really still is a kid...especially when his friends are not around.

This swing he was on was for little kids, and was so close to the ground his Crocs were scrapping the sand and his feet could barely get off the ground...but he enjoyed the ride just the same.  I just bet that if any of his friends were there, he wouldn't even get near it just because it isn't cool.

Title: Havin' a Berry Good Time
Materials: Cardstock - Wassau (white), DCWV (yellow, red); Patterned papers, buttons & stickers - Nikki Sivils Blueberry Hill; Transparency - Hambly; Pens - American Crafts (black & white), Zig (green); Font : Apple Casual
Journaling: Luis didn't care that the swing was too small for him. All that mattered was that he was having fun. April 2010

Luis is my eldest and turns 10 yrs old in a few weeks...I can barely remember my life before I became a mom.  I know I was happy...after all, I had a job that I loved (and loved me back) and had married my Prince Charming.  But being a mom gave me so much more, that giving up my dream job to be here for my kids was a no-brainer.

Oh, definitely there are times when I wish I was back at work --- mostly when I want to blow away cash the way I used to...but most days, I just wake up thinking I'm the luckiest girl on earth! And if that isn't luck in itself, I don't know what is.
