Rekindled Moments Challenge - Fly

This was my entry to the KI Memories Challenge of Rekindled Moments.

Title: Fly

Journaling: Nadya enjoyed running around in circles to make her 1st kite fly, she says she's the best kite flyer.

Materials: KI Memories Pop Culture lace cardstock (blue, fushchia and orange), Softies embellishments, chipboard shapes; Bazzil and DCWV cardstock, Ranger/Tim Holtz Grungeboard, distress ink and distress embossing powder; Prima stamp, American Crafts pen

I really wanted to highlight that this is Nadya's 1st time to fly a kite so not only did I trim the photo to a diamond/kite shape, but the lace cardstock also mimics the kite design and colors.

To add movement to the LO, I used the photo corners and formed them into butterflies to direct the eye to the title and reinforce it.

The black softies swirls form the tail of my kite.

Damsel in Distress

Finished this LO of Nadya last week. Lately it seems that her face has been looking like this more and more often. Even when we are very careful to make sure that she gets as much attention (sometimes even more) than Luis and Bianca, she still has something to complain about.

Most of the time it's because "she wanted to be born first. Why was Luis born first?" If anybody has the answer that will make her stop asking that question, please tell me.

Other than the fact that she whines about almost everything, she's very sweet and we love her to bits. It doesn't hurt that she looks gorgeous even when she's whining.

Title: Damsel in Distress

Journaling: I know it's not easy to be the middle child, I am one, too. Just remember when life seems unfair, that I will always love you. Nadya 032208

Materials: Bazzill cs, Deja Views pps, 7 Gypsies stickers, Uniball Signo pen, American Crafts Velvet Thickers, Making Memories rub-on letters, brads and acrylic paint, misc bling swirl & metal letters, corrugated board for stamping. Digital frame by Rhonna Farrer from 2 Peas in A Bucket.

I've seen so many digital elements using corrugated board so I experimented with it in this LO. I used the board as a stamp and I love the distressed effect. Just peel off the paper from a piece of corrugated board, apply acrylic paint and stamp before the paint dries.

The photos themselves are a contradiction with Nadya in a pretty girly dress but with her blue leggings showing because of her not so lady-like sitting position.

April 2008 Scrapbytes is here!

This month I am celebrating my first year anniversary as editor of Scrapbytes. Can't believe I made it this far. It was supposed to be a temporary thing, just until Mia Castrillo was back up on her feet again after giving birth (last Oct 2007).

But God had other plans, more for Mia than for me, as her whole family moved to Cagayan De Oro in June 2007 so I got stuck (for lack of a better term) with this job.

Check out the April 2008 issue here where you will see these previously unseen LOs of mine:

Mischief Pals

Here's another LO I made a while back which I forgot to post.
Luis and Buddy are so alike in almost every way -- except that Luis looks more like me! They both love cars and care way too much about how their hair is fixed. They will eat pizza, fries and chips everyday if they could.

Title: Mischief Pals

Materials Used: Crate pps, 7 Gypsies stickers, Fancy Pants chipboard title, Sailor pen, Junkits metal clip, Chatterbox photo corners, Making Memories hinge, Queen & Co mini brads, misc ribbon

Journaling: I love how the 2 of you get along so well. I think it's so cute that you go to get your haircuts at the same time and then sneak-off to look at cars! No wonder you're each other's hero. Jun '06
